# New Mexico fire restrictions today

5 of 33 counties have a fire restriction (checked 2026-10-13T17:28:49.866Z, source New Mexico Forestry Division (EMNRD) and the Southwest Coordination Group: https://www.emnrd.nm.gov/sfd/fire-prevention-programs/fire-restrictions/).

County commissions set fire restrictions on private and county land and the Forestry Division maps them; national forests, BLM land and tribes set their own Stage 1 or Stage 2 restrictions, which we show as partial for the county. Cities can have stricter rules.
